Shorewood honors two police officers
The Shorewood Police Department honored two of their own at the Village Board meeting on February 6th. Officer Deanna Otto and Officer John Schaal saved an unconscious male who’s car crashed into a parked car at the high School lot and burst into flames. Officers acted quickly, broke out a window to gain access, removed the seat belt and dragged the man to safety. Great work by two of Shorewood’s finest. They were awarded Life Saving plaques by Chief David Banaszynski.
Village of Shorewood maintains its Moody’s Aa2 Rating
Moody's credit rating agency published its report today maintaining the Village of Shorewood's Aa2 rating. Moody’s rationale noted “the city's mature and affluent tax base in close proximity to the City of Milwaukee; sound financial operations characterized by healthy reserve levels; and manageable debt profile.” Representatives from Moody's tele-conferenced with members of the Village management team and financial advisors from Ehlers last week to hear a presentation of long-range financial planning efforts and updates on other new projects and developments. Moody's indicated that the Village's debt burden is expected to remain manageable due to "officials' detailed level of financial planning in connection with the implementation of the Village's capital plan." The Village obtained this rating in connection with the the sale of general obligation community development bonds , which, will provide funding for improvements associated with the Kenmore Place mixed-use development located in Tax Increment District four.

Snow Removal Reminder
Keep Sidewalks Clear of Snow and Ice
With winter finally upon us, residents are reminded that they are required by ordinance to keep the sidewalks around their homes clear of snow and ice and spread sand and salt as needed within 12 hours after a snowfall or when ice has formed. A reminder to residents and businesses on corner lots - sidewalks must be cleared to the curb, including the pedestrian ramps leading to the street crosswalks. Be a good neighbor!
