The Village of Shorewood values civic engagement and opportunities to learn about civic services. The Village is bringing back the Shorewood Citizen's Academy for a second year to allow residents and visitors a chance to learn about their community.
This is an innovative program that offers community leaders and officials a chance to talk about services and volunteer opportunities. The citizen's academy serves as a new tool that enhances the Village's communication by creating a hands-on learning opportunity for several individuals. The sessions range from a history of Shorewood, elected officials and voting, public works, planning and economic development, education and learning. The academy will start February 1, 2018 and run six weeks every Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Starting today, the Village of Shorewood has posted the application for the Citizen's Academy online. Interested participants will be able to sign up for sessions by filling out an application hereor physical copies that will be available at Village Hall, the Village Center Lobby, the Police Department building and at Public Works. There will be approximately 20 spots reserved for participants and spots will be filled based on how soon the application is completed. The last date to turn in applications for the 2018 Citizen's Academy will be Friday, December 22.
