If you are found guilty in the Village of Shorewood Municipal Court, you can appeal that decision to Milwaukee County Circuit Court. You must file a notice of appeal and pay the filing fee with 20 days of the municipal court decision.
You can request that the circuit court take your appeal in one of three ways.
- You can request that the circuit court review the transcript of the municipal court trial and make a decision based on that review.
- You can request a new trial before the circuit court judge.
- You can request a trial by jury in circuit court, unless you are convicted of OWI/PAC/RCS and did not choose a jury trial earlier.
The appeal may be obtained from the Village of Shorewood Municipal Court. Call the court clerk at (414) 847-2617 or write to Village of Shorewood Municipal Court, 3930 N. Murray Ave., Shorewood, WI 53211. You may also download the appeal form by clicking on the following link that applies to you:
Once an appeal is filed in circuit court, the municipal court judgment and sentence are stayed, or stopped. No action is taken to enforce the judgment and sentence pending the appeal.
