- Medicine Collection Program
The Shorewood Police Department accepts unused medications in the lobby during normal business hours.
IMPORTANT: Shorewood Police Department collections are ONLY open to residents of Shorewood. It is preferred that unused pharmaceuticals be emptied from the bottle or container and placed into a clear plastic Ziploc bag. Afterwards, you may dispose of pill bottles or containers into your recycling bin or garbage. Additionally, you do not have to remove individual pills from the plastic pillow or bubble packaging.
NEVER flush or pour unused or expired medicine down the drain. Water reclamation facilities are not designed to remove all of them and trace amounts of pharmaceuticals are showing up in rivers and lakes around the world.
BRING: Prescription and over-the-counter medications (non-liquids), ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, creams, vials and pet medications.
DO NOT BRING: Illegal drugs, needles/sharps, inhalers, aerosol cans, bio-hazardous material (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc.), liquids, household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas) or any medication from businesses or clinics. We WILL NOT accept any of these items.
