A construction kick-off meeting was held on Thursday, April 12. Information including the schedule, construction staging (lane and intersection closures), ash tree replacement and more was reviewed. Please click here to view the meeting presentation and here for a copy of the meeting handout.
The Village of Shorewood began its fight against the Emerald Ash Borer in 2009. The battle continues today on two fronts: annual truck injections and the removal and replacement of selected ash trees during major infrastructure improvement projects.
The presence of the pest was confirmed in 2016 in several privately-owned trees in the north east area of the Village. EAB is 100% fatal to unprotected ash trees and has killed millions of ash across the country. Please read more about our efforts to protect Shorewood's urban forest, including the Ash Tree Replacement Program.
