Atwater Beach Lifeguards

Atwater Beach lifeguard coverage for Summer 2025 begins on Saturday, June 28 and runs through Sunday, August 17 with the following hours:

Atwater Beach is CLOSED on the Fourth of July

Trustees awarded the contract for the waterfront-certified lifeguard services to provider Ivy Lucier of Lakefront Lifeguard Services, LLC.

BEACH RULES

• Swimmers must remain in the swim zone.
• Piers are closed. Beach guests are not allowed on the piers. 
• Dogs are not allowed past the gate unless it is a certified service animal.
• Grilling and bonfires are not allowed.
• Swimmers may not hang on or grab the buoy lines.
• During a thunderstorm or other weather emergency, everyone must clear the beach for at least 30 minutes. 
• Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
• Smoking and vaping are not allowed.
• Glassware is not allowed.
• Personal watercrafts (kayaks, surfboards, paddleboards, etc.) are not allowed in the swim zone.
• Motorized watercraft may not be launched from Atwater Beach.
• Beach guests must observe all signage.
• Beach guests who refuse to comply with the rules will be asked to leave. 

BEACH CONDITIONS (WATER AND SURF CONDITIONS)

Here, you can find the conditions of the water (tested twice weekly by the North Shore Health District), and the overall surf conditions collected daily by the Lifeguard supervisor or Lead Lifeguard.
